GCRA Summer Pre-Season Training Camps

Location: Bob MacQuarrie Rec Complex

Dates: August 15-19, 2022

GCRA will be offering half-day, pre-season training camps during the week of August 15-19, 2022 in order to prepare athletes for their coming tryouts and seasons. GCRA will be offering 4 different programs during the week. Please see the schedule below for the timing of each program.

FUN 2 / FUN 3 Camp (3 hours)

  • Birth year: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 (for athletes playing FUN 2 or FUN 3 this coming season)
  • Max # of participants: 30 players, 4 goalies
  • Cost: $270 (goalie registration is half-priced, see separate registration package for goalies)
  • Time: 8:00am-11:00am
    • 80 minutes of on-ice training (skating skills, ring skills, drills, scrimmages/games)
    • 90 minutes of off-ice activities (GLOs, goal-setting, team building activities)

U12 Camp (3 hours) 

  • Birth year: 2011, 2012 (for athletes playing U12 this coming season)
  • Max # of participants: 60 skaters, 8 goalies
  • Cost: $270 (goalie registration is half-priced, see separate registration package for goalies)
  • Time: 9:30am-12:30pm
    • 80 minutes of on-ice training (skating skills, ring skills, drills, scrimmages/games)
    • 90 minutes of off-ice training (GLOs, cross-sport training, mental fitness, goal-setting, game strategy)

U14 Competitive Camp (3 hours)

  • Birth year: 2009, 2010 (for athletes playing competitive U14 this coming season)
  • Max # of participants: 60 skaters, 8 goalies
  • Cost: $270 (goalie registration is half-priced, see separate registration package for goalies)
  • Time: 2:00pm-5:00pm            
  • For athletes playing competitive U14 this coming season.
    • 80 minutes of on-ice training (skating skills, ring skills, drills, scrimmages/games)
    • 90 minutes of off-ice training (fitness, cross-sport training, mental fitness, goal-setting, game strategy)

U16/19 Competitive Pre-Season Training (2 hours)

  • Birth year: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 (for athletes playing U16 A/AA or U19 A/AA this coming season)
  • Max # of participants: 30 skaters, 6 goalies
  • Cost: $200 (goalie registration is half-priced, see separate registration package for goalies)
  • Time: 11:45am-2:00pm
    • 80 minutes of on-ice training (skating/ring drills, scrimmages)
    • 30-45 minutes of off-ice conditioning (fitness, cross-sport training)

    • ​If your athelete did not play ringette for an association in Ontario during the 2021-22 season, additional fees will apply!

We are looking for Camp Counsellors!

Job Opportunities:

  • 4 Half-Day Paid Positions (7:30am -12:30pm)
  • 4-5 Full-Day Paid Positions (7:30am - 5:15pm)
  • 4 Volunteers Half-Day and Full-Day options

Pay: 15$/hour 

The Camp involves ringette players ages 6-13 that range in ability from first time skating to having played ringette for the past couple years recreationally and competitively.  Counsellors must be able to participate in activities while maintaining an enthusiastic outlook and being a positive role model. The off-ice instruction requires counselors to take initiative and be innovative with creating and delivering off-ice programming. They will be required to run warm-ups and drills on-ice under the guidance of the on-ice instructors.  

Criteria for which applicants will be assessed:

  • Age and ringette playing experience
  • Work and volunteer experience that demonstrates ability to work with children
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Leadership qualifications/experience
  • Professionalism
