Team News - Nov 2, 2017
2017-11-02The GCRA teams have hit the ice and are doing great!
The season is off to a good start. The teams have each played several games and are finding their rhythms. We have reports from some of them.
U12PP-Red-Leemhius:
We picked up our first win of the season on Saturday against CORA and the team was humming. It was the best game they played so far and was truly a team effort with the 7 goals and various assists coming from multiple players, the D both intercepting passes and entering the offensive zone to contribute and our goalie, Madison Bolivar, getting her first shutout of the year! The players amazed their parents and coaches by using many of the plays and techniques taught to them over the past several weeks.
The team followed up on Sunday with a tie against rival Metcalfe. It was a very physical game, but our smaller players pushed through it all and even had the lead at one point. Every time we play them we've closed the gap on the scoreboard and hope next time to come out on top!
U12PP-Blue-Billings:
The Billings Devils have played 6 games with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses. Both losses were to West Ottawa, they are a solid team and will give our team a great run throughout this season. The team is excited to play their first tournament of the season in Oshawa. GO DEVILS!
U14C-Lecompte:
The girls have been playing strong. In our first 3 games the girls scored 12 points on their opponents and only allowed 3 goals to slip in. This weekend, we continued to play hard, but were beat by the Nepean girls. The girls are not feeling defeated though and they're looking forward to their next two-game weekend!
U16A-Drolet:
We won our first game at home, then it was off for a league double-header in Quebec City (Yikes!). Luckily the girls made it worth the drive by winning both games. This weekend we played another home game where Pointe-Claire managed to break a 3-3 tie in the last minutes of the game giving us our first loss. We're playing with passion and are looking forward to more wins.
Here are some recent league stats.
Novice (U08-U10):
U09-Archer is off to a fine start of the season with 3 wins, and their peer team U09-Watson is showing strength with 5 straight wins. U10-Dearing has 3 wins, and U10-Grosset has 2 wins under their belt.
Regional (U12-U19):
U12-D'Aoust has 2 wins, and U12-Jamieson also has a win. U14B-MacMillan has a pair of wins, and U14C-Lecompte has 3 wins. U16B-Leslie has 2 wins, and U16C-Moneiro has a win. U19B-Campbell-Daigle has a tie and is looking for their first win - we'll have to cheer a bit harder, and U19B-Flecther has 2 wins.
Competitive (U12-U19):
U12PP-Blue-Billings has accumulated 5 wins, and U12PP-Red-Leemhius has just gained their first win followed by tie. U14AA-Mainwood is undefeated with 6 wins, while U14A-Altherr is undefeated with 5 wins - perhaps we're cheering too hard? U16AA-Beaulac has a win and a pair of ties, and U16A-Drolet has 3 wins. U19AA-Hartley as a win, and U19A-Lester has a win and 2 ties.
Tournaments:
The season's many ringette tournaments are about to begin. We wish lots of safe fun and success to all the teams as they compete. Additionally, we wish the best of luck to all the competitive teams as they accumulate points towards their provincial ranking.
