Camp Counsellor Jobs

The GCRA Recreation and Competitive Camps, which run the week of August 14th, are looking for pro-active and creative counsellors  that can demonstrate a  strong work ethic, teamwork and communication skills.  We are looking for individuals who feel like they could present themselves as a positive role model for our young camp participants.  

Specifically for the Recreational Camp

  • Location : Richcraft Sensplex, Potvin Arena 
  • Camp Coordinator: Kelly Searle
  • Job Opportunities: 6-7 Camp Counsellors

The Camp involves ringette players ages 5-11 that range in ability from first time skating to being very proficient.  The camp focuses on learning the fundamentals required to play the game.  The off-ice instruction requires counselors to take initiative and be creative in coming up with theme- based activities.  

Criteria for which applicants will be assessed:

  • Age and ringette playing experience
  • Work and volunteer experience that demonstrates ability to work with children
  • First Aid and CPR training
  • Leadership qualifications/experience
  • Professionalism 

Specifically for the Competitive Camp

  • Location: Barrett Arena
  • Camp Coordinator: Jessica Mainwood
  • Job Opportunities: 5-6 Camp Counsellors

The Competitive Camp is a challenging on-ice program complimented by off-ice physical conditioning sessions.  Camp participants will be between the ages of 9-14.  Counsellors must be able to participate in activities while maintaining an enthusiastic outlook and being a positive role model.  

Criteria for which applicants will be assessed:

  • Age and ringette playing experience - including coaching experience
  • Work and volunteer experience that demonstrates the ability to work with children
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Additional certifications and/or qualifications related to working with children
  • Overall professionalism and presentation

To Apply for either Camp

All applicants must be turning 16 years of age by December 31, 2017.  Applicants are requested to submit a resume and cover letter no later than Monday May 5, 2017 indicating which camp you are applying.  If you would like to apply for both camps, please indicate this in your cover letter.

All applications will be assessed using a standard rubic based on the above criteria listed specific for each camp.  The applicants with the highest scores of the rubics will be contacted for an interview and reference checks by the camp coordinator  no later than Friday May 12, 2017.  It is our hope that all jobs will be staffed shortly after.
